When Melissa Carper heard bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley say, “I don’t think you can get this sound unless it’s borned in ya,” she knew she had a song. That spark became the title track of her upcoming album Borned In Ya—a soulful, genre-blending journey through jazz, R&B, classic country, and honky-tonk, out July 19 via Mae Music/Thirty Tigers.
The Pond Album Release Show
On Sunday, May 18th, the pond will release their new album here in Butte. It will be a matinee show with doors opening at 4 and music starting promptly at 4:30. You may know the pond as DJ Dusty Dale from Candy Breakfast’s band. They will be playing new originals from the new record and will be joined by Levi Minson who will be on tour from Sacramento. Levi put out a beautiful indie rock album called Violet Speedway on Butte’s Anything Bagel last year. Also performing will be Sturdy, a solo performance by Kale Huseby who plays in the pond band. The show is free, kid friendly, and open to the public, with donations encouraged to support the artists.
Catfish Carl Album Release Show
On Friday, May 2nd, Catfish Carl will release his debut album of original country music at Pissers Palace at 7PM. The night will also feature music from KBMF’s own Sean Eamon, as well as Jesse Brenneman from Missoula. Catfish Carl is the stage name for KBMF’s former manager Clark Grant. The show is free and open to the public, with donations encouraged. The music from the new CD can be found online at catfishcarl.bandcamp.com.
KBMF Studio Remodel
Dear Listeners, here at the station we are undertaking a studio remodel that will be Apr 24th through May 1st. For the eight days that we are updating our studio we will run a prerecorded playlist we affectionately refer to as BOB. During this time there will be no live DJs but we expect to resume our programming on Friday May 2nd. Thanks for your patience as we see this process through.
